The New Mexico Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America kicked off 2026 in fine style with its Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at The Pizza Barn in Edgewood, NM. The day began with friendly conversations and caffeine at the Sandia BMW Wheels & Coffee gathering in Albuquerque, followed by a scenic group drive east along Tramway Boulevard, tracing the Sandia Mountains before reconnecting with Historic Route 66 for the final stretch to Edgewood. It was the kind of drive that reminds us why we love getting our BMWs out on the road together.
Lunch was a highlight in itself, with excellent pizza generously provided by Sandia BMW. The Chapter extends a sincere thank-you to the dealership and to Marketing Director Cameron Berenger-Russell, who joined us in person and helped make the meal possible. The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere set the perfect tone for both reflection and planning.
Following lunch, Chapter President Phil Undercuffler led the annual meeting and reviewed an active and memorable 2025. Events ranged from tech sessions and social gatherings to multiple Cardinal Point Drives, the popular BMW Clean Car Show at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial, the eclectic Tinkertown Museum visit, and the Karl Fox Memorial Tour, which included a stop at the Cleveland Roller Mill. Phil thanked the volunteers who made these events happen, emphasizing that the strength of the Chapter comes directly from members willing to step up and share their time and ideas.
That spirit was on full display as members quickly filled nearly the entire 2026 calendar during the meeting. From a Historic Route 66 drive in February to the Drive 4 Corners weekend, the Karl Fox Memorial Tour to Carlsbad Caverns (9/18 – 9/20), and the always-popular Holiday Luncheon, the coming year promises another full slate of driving, destinations, and camaraderie. Two members, Doug Chevrier and Dave Olson, also volunteered to serve as Directors At Large, further strengthening the Chapter’s leadership and support team.
Treasurer Dan Jones summarized the Chapter’s financial position, noting a stable bank balance, steady membership, and the ongoing efforts to encourage lapsed members to renew. With no additional business raised, the meeting was adjourned, though conversations lingered, as they often do, long after the formal agenda wrapped up.
If you weren’t able to attend this year’s Annual Meeting, you were definitely missed, but the road ahead is wide open. With a packed 2026 schedule and plenty of opportunities to get involved, now is the perfect time to join us for a drive, an event, or simply a slice of pizza or ice cream and good conversation. We look forward to seeing you at the next NM BMW CCA gathering for a drive on historic Route 66!
