2019 Karl Fox Memorial Fall Tour – Los Alamos

On Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, the New Mexico Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America had the Annual Karl Fox Memorial Fall Tour. This year the tour was through the Jemez mountains to Los Alamos followed by lunch in Santa Fe. We met up in Rio Rancho, NM for a driver’s meeting. It was the last day of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, so many of us were treated to the sights of a mass ascension on a beautiful Sunday morning. We then had a nice drive from there to the Jemez Pueblo Walatowa Visitor Center for a break followed by a trip to the Jemez Soda Dam Hot Springs for a photo op. We were fortunate to have professional photographer Jason Collin, an FAA certified drone pilot, to take drone shots of our stop at the soda dam. On to the Valle Grande at the Valles Caldera National Preserve for another photo op and then proceeded to the Manhattan Project National Historic Park at Los Alamos for an interesting walking tour. We finished off the tour with a wonderful lunch at Gabriel’s in Santa Fe.
