June 2025 Turquoise Trail Drive and Tinkertown Museum

Join the BMW Car Club of America New Mexico Chapter for a scenic drive along the Turquoise Trail to the fabulous Tinkertown Museum in the East Mountains. Tinkertown, one of New Mexico’s premier examples of Roadside Americana, is the culmination of sign painter Ross Ward’s life passion carving and animating wooden characters, painstakingly assembling dioramas, and collecting odd bits from around the world. Impossible to categorize and harder to describe, it’s a joyful celebration of human creativity and Ward’s simple call to turn off the television and make something. 

Meet in the parking lot of Fusion Tacos El Dorado at 8:30 am for a 9:00 am departure, where we’ll enjoy a leisurely drive along the historic Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway. After visiting the museum we’ll make our way further down NM 14 to enjoy wood-fired pizza on the outdoor patio at Rumor Brewing Company in Cedar Crest.
