Under bright skies and comfortable spring temperatures, the BMW CCA New Mexico Chapter set out on a memorable journey to the Very Large Array on Saturday, April 18, 2026. The day began with good conversation and great food at NM Tech’s M Mountain Grill before the group headed west on a scenic 50 mile drive along Highway 60 towards Magdalena, a route that showcased both the beauty of New Mexico and the joy of driving a BMW. Arriving at the VLA, members stepped into the fascinating world of radio astronomy at the Spring Open House hosted by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, enjoying interactive displays, live demonstrations, and an engaging guided tour among the iconic array of radio dishes. It was a day that combined driving, discovery, and camaraderie, and a perfect reminder that the best part of our club is sharing experiences like this together.
