SUMMARY:March 2022 2-Day Cardinal Point Drive South - Sacramento Mountains
DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Chapter of the BMW CCA invites you to our Cardinal Point Drive South through the scenic Sacramento Mountains on March 12th and 13th. The drive will be broken into two days and members are encouraged to participate in either or both days. The first day will include stops at Three Rivers Petroglyphs\, a tour of PistachioLand Tree Ranch\, and lunch at Rosey’s Pizza in Carrizozo. The second day will feature twistier roads as we explore parts of the Billy The Kid Scenic Byway with stops in Cloudcroft and Ruidoso.  \nLogistics\nWe’re trying something new this month to make it easier to participate no matter the geography. Two caravans will begin on Saturday March 12th – one beginning in the North\, the other from the South – with a rendezvous at Carrizozo\, so this is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some wonderful roads and company while both starting and ending the journey a little closer to home.   \nThose in the northern portion of the state will meet at the southwest corner of the Smith’s parking lot on Tramway and Central in Albuquerque at 8 am. We will explore part of the Salt Missions Scenic Byway to Carrizozo via NM 337. Those to the south will meet at 10 am at the White Sands Mall (on the North side of Alamogordo). We will all meet up at Rosey’s Pizza in Carrizozo for lunch before heading South as a group and spending the night in Alamogordo at Hampton Inn Alamogordo. \nOn Sunday\, we will meet at 8:30 am (keeping in mind we will have just “sprung forward” the night before into daylight savings time!) at the Hampton Inn in Alamogordo for an extended drive into remote portions of the Sacramento Mountains led by Jim Storch in his 1M! We will have a lunch stop in Ruidoso after the drive. \nQuestions? Email Rob Anthony\, Driving Events Coordinator at dec@nmbmwcca.org.

It will proceed north on NM-68 to Pilar where we will take NM-570 along the Rio Grande\, crossing at NM-567\, then on CB-115 to US-64 which will take us to Tres Piedras and lunch at the Chili Line Depot. (Read the review A small-town eatery with big-city standards from the Albuquerque Journal.) The return trip will be via US-285 to Espanola and Santa Fe. \nThe route and directions are available at Google Maps:\nSanta Fe BMW To Embudo\,\nEmbudo to Chili Line Depot\,and \nChili Line Depot Return. \nTo print out detailed directions to take with you\, click on the printer icon on the left panel of the Google Map page for options. \nNote: The route includes about 2.5 miles on NM-567 which has not been scouted. That section of NM-567\,while paved\, may be a little rough. We may need to take it slowly for that short section. Alternatives will be discussed in Santa Fe. For cars that can’t make it\, a viable option will be to backtrack to NM-68\, head north and take NM-240 then US-64 to the Chili Line Depot. That will take about 35 minutes longer than following NM-567. \nJoin us at the Club’s FaceBook group page and share your photos of the tour.

SUMMARY:2017 Spring Tour to Los Lunas Luna Mansion
DESCRIPTION:Please RSVP to James Irick at editor@nmbmwcca for a head count for brunch at Luna Mansion.  You may also leave a message with Dan Jones\, Tourmeister for the Spring 2017 Tour. \nAPRIL Spring Tour\nWHEN: 9.30am on Sunday April 2nd for a 10.00am departure.\nWHERE: Meet at Sandia BMW. \nFor the first time in Chapter history\, a tour is designed for the EV (Electric Vehicle) community with i3 and i8 owners participating! And James\, our email editor\, will show that even the seasoned Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) owner can survive in a world of EV. He will be driving an i3 REX for this tour to prove that even a heavy footed BMW owner can embrace the idea of going green…at least for 120 miles or so. \nWe are following the pre-1936 alignment of Route 66 through Albuquerque into Los Lunas for a Brunch event at the Luna Mansion. This route allows enough distance for the EV group to come along for Brunch then return to their homes without charging. Those who have ICE  vehicles are encouraged to continue the Tour along NM-6 to I-40\, then east to Rt. 66 Casino for the end of our tour. There will be at least two i8’s on this Tour\, so now is your chance to be seen with the future of BMW! \nThose of you with gasoline or diesel powered vehicles will not be left out completely. In homage to the fuel economy standards that all new cars must meet we will be having a competition for the vehicle owner who can get the greatest fuel economy above their published combined economy (via EPA combined estimates). This will be based on the fuel economy computer in your vehicle and will be reset at the start of the tour. The results will be tallied at Rt. 66 Casino…\nThe winner will have the privilege of taking a BMW i3 REX for a weekend tour courtesy of Sandia BMW! \nPlease RSVP to James Irick at editor@nmbmwcca for a head count for brunch at Luna Mansion.  You may also leave a message with Dan Jones\, Tourmeister for the Spring 2017 Tour at (505)814-4412. \n
