SUMMARY:March 2022 2-Day Cardinal Point Drive South - Sacramento Mountains
DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Chapter of the BMW CCA invites you to our Cardinal Point Drive South through the scenic Sacramento Mountains on March 12th and 13th. The drive will be broken into two days and members are encouraged to participate in either or both days. The first day will include stops at Three Rivers Petroglyphs\, a tour of PistachioLand Tree Ranch\, and lunch at Rosey’s Pizza in Carrizozo. The second day will feature twistier roads as we explore parts of the Billy The Kid Scenic Byway with stops in Cloudcroft and Ruidoso.  \nLogistics\nWe’re trying something new this month to make it easier to participate no matter the geography. Two caravans will begin on Saturday March 12th – one beginning in the North\, the other from the South – with a rendezvous at Carrizozo\, so this is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some wonderful roads and company while both starting and ending the journey a little closer to home.   \nThose in the northern portion of the state will meet at the southwest corner of the Smith’s parking lot on Tramway and Central in Albuquerque at 8 am. We will explore part of the Salt Missions Scenic Byway to Carrizozo via NM 337. Those to the south will meet at 10 am at the White Sands Mall (on the North side of Alamogordo). We will all meet up at Rosey’s Pizza in Carrizozo for lunch before heading South as a group and spending the night in Alamogordo at Hampton Inn Alamogordo. \nOn Sunday\, we will meet at 8:30 am (keeping in mind we will have just “sprung forward” the night before into daylight savings time!) at the Hampton Inn in Alamogordo for an extended drive into remote portions of the Sacramento Mountains led by Jim Storch in his 1M! We will have a lunch stop in Ruidoso after the drive. \nQuestions? Email Rob Anthony\, Driving Events Coordinator at dec@nmbmwcca.org.

No  weapons are allowed\, but pets are allowed as long as they are leashed and their waste is picked up and put into a trash receptacle. Pets are not allowed on the shuttle that takes visitors to the McDonald Ranch House\, but it’s well worth the visit. \nTrinity Update March 18\, 2022: COVID-19 Restrictions have been Removed\nAccording to the White Sands Missile Range: “Due to changes in circumstances surrounding COVID-19 restrictions\, we DO NOT require reservations or proof of vaccination to attend the April 2 Trinity Site Open House.
