SUMMARY:Borderland BMW Drive to Sunspot and Cloudcroft\, NM
DESCRIPTION:The October 2023 NM BMW CCA Borderland Region First Sunday Meetup will be October 1\, 2023 with a drive through the Sacramento Mountains to Sunspot\, NM for a visit to the NMSU Sunspot Solar Observatory Visitor Center. Following the visit\, we will have lunch at the Cloudcroft Brewing Company in Cloudcroft. We will meet in the Lowe’s parking lot in Alamogordo at 9 am and depart from there on the hour drive to the observatory. \nPlease note that the Sunspot Solar Observatory is located at an elevation of 9200 ft\, so it is a good idea to pace yourself and stay hydrated if you are not accustomed to high elevations. The weather in Sunspot varies with the seasons and temperatures are typically 20-30 degrees cooler than in Alamogordo. DESCRIPTION:The August 2023 NM BMW CCA Borderland Region First Sunday Meetup will be Sunday\, August 6\, 2023 for a drive over the Black Range from San Lorenzo to Hillsboro\, NM. This is a spectacular mountain road\, the kind BMWs were made for. We will meet in Las Cruces at the Whataburger parking lot at 190 E. University Ave\, at 8:30am. SUMMARY:Borderland BMW Drive to Columbus\, NM
DESCRIPTION:The June 2023 NM BMW CCA Borderland Region First Sunday Meetup will be June 4\, 2023 with a drive along the border to Columbus\, NM. We will meet in the car parking lot of the Love’s Travel Stop at the corner of NM 136 and Airport Road in Santa Teresa at 8:30 a.m. (to be on the road at 9 a.m.). We will drive on NM 9 to Columbus and visit the museum at Pancho Villa State Park (Entrance fee courtesy of the NM Chapter). \nThere are no restaurants open in Columbus on Sunday\, but there are places to eat across the border in Palomas within walking distance from the port of entry including the famous Pink Store. Passports are necessary to get back in the U.S. Those who don’t want to go to Mexico can drive back the way we came and grab lunch at Rudy’s Bar BQ (Aircraft Rd and I-10). \nThe Borderland Region gatherings on the first Sunday of the month help build the community for BMW owners in West Texas\, Southern New Mexico and Northern Chihuahua\, in addition to the regular chapter events. \nIf you have suggestions for events in southern New Mexico or the El Paso area\, contact borderland@nmbmwcca.org.

SUMMARY:2023 Spring Tour to Ruidoso
DESCRIPTION:Join the BMW Car Club of America New Mexico Chapter and Borderland Region on Saturday\, April 1\, 2023 for a drive to Ruidoso for lunch at everyone’s favorite\, The Village Buttery. After lunch and seeing the local sights\, you can return via Fort Stanton\, Lincoln and Carizozo if you wish or optionally head to Cloudcroft to visit the Burro Street Exchange and the Cloudcroft Brewing Company. Dinner will be at Rebecca’s which is named after the resident ghost of The Lodge at Cloudcroft where we will stay for the night. The number of rooms available are limited\, so call 575-682-2566 to reserve a room soon and tell them you are with the NM BMW Car Club to receive a discount. You must make your reservation at The Lodge before March 25th. \nIf you choose to make this a two-day event\, on Sunday\, April 2nd\, we will walk in the footsteps of Billy the Kid and tour the town of Lincoln\, NM. Then head over to Fort Stanton once commanded by Kit Carson and also where “Black Jack” Pershing was stationed. Lunch will be in Capitan followed by a visit to Smokey Bear Historical Park. Some people may want to visit Valley of Fires on the return on US 380 just west of Carrizozo. \nWe will meet at 8:00 am Saturday in the parking lot of the East Mountain Public Library at 487 NM 333\, Tijeras\, NM for the trip South to Ruidoso. We will stop along the way to visit the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. Be sure to have a full tank of gas. \nBorderland people will meet at the south end of the Lowe’s parking lot 4201 N Scenic Drive in Alamogordo at 11:30am. We will meet up with the rest of the group in Ruidoso. Borderland people interested in a Sunday-only tour should meet in the Alamogordo Lowe’s parking lot at 7:30 am Sunday morning to join up with the rest of the group in Cloudcroft. \nQuestions?
