SUMMARY:BMW Borderland Second Annual Drive to Sunspot and Cloudcroft\, NM
DESCRIPTION:The October 2024 NM BMW CCA Borderland Region First Sunday Meetup will be on the 6th for the Second Annual Drive Through the Sacramento Mountains to Sunspot\, NM for a visit to the NMSU Sunspot Solar Observatory Visitor Center. Following the visit\, we will have lunch at the Cloudcroft Brewing Company in Cloudcroft. We will meet in the Lowe’s parking lot in Alamogordo at 9 am and depart from there on the hour drive to the observatory. \nPlease note that the Sunspot Solar Observatory is located at an elevation of 9200 ft\, so it is a good idea to pace yourself and stay hydrated if you are not accustomed to high elevations. The weather in Sunspot varies with the seasons and temperatures are typically 20-30 degrees cooler than in Alamogordo. Dress appropriately and bring layers of clothing. \nThe Borderland Region gatherings on the first Sunday of the month help build the community for BMW owners in west Texas\, southern New Mexico\, and northern Chihuahua in addition to the regular chapter events.
